To honor the graduates and under-graduates of the school who took part in the World War, in 1922 the students voted to buy the acreage across the street, a plot of ground approximately 315 by 350 feet, to be used as a memorial park. This second location atop a hill was completed in and LAHS moved in. The new high school was built on part of the site of the abandoned Fort Moore Hill Cemetery, the first Protestant cemetery in Los Angeles, which was spread over the slopes of the hill. Aerial Photos do appear in the historic photograph collection held in the History department but are not indexed nor are they a true aerial photograph collection such as owned by University of California Los Angeles or Whittier College. Central Library owns a single specimen of aerial photos in the year 1965 only. The first motion picture studio west of Chicago is established in Long Beach by the California Motion Picture Manufacturing Company. The photo highlighted here dates from sometime in the 1910s and looks to be from about the southeast corner of Los Angeles and 2nd streets looking towards the northwest. There are some well-known city landmarks in view, especially three in a row at the center and slightly to the left. However, by 1921 Wright had built only the main house and two guest houses.

Its predecessor was constructed in 1872 and this version opened about two decades later and was used for about a quarter century until 1917. Immediately to the right of that is the tall tower of the county courthouse, which was built in 1889 during the famed boom of the preceding couple of years.
